- Wilson Yap joined SAS in 2022 following the acquisition of Kamakura Corporation. His career, spanning over two decades, is characterized by significant leadership roles and contributions to major financial institutions, including Kamakura Corporation, Standard Chartered Bank Singapore, and Fiserv. During his tenure at Kamakura Corporation, as the Senior Vice President and Head of Professional Services, Wilson was instrumental in overseeing the professional services in the Asia Pacific region. His responsibilities encompassed the entirety of implementation, project management, and advisory services for the corporation. As the Senior Director of Professional Services, he played a crucial role in stakeholder engagement, leading in-depth fact-finding discussions, and formulating strategies to meet diverse stakeholder requirements. His adept leadership in this role was critical to enhancing operational efficiency and client satisfaction in the region. Before his association with Kamakura, Wilson was part of Standard Chartered Bank Singapore, where he managed the implementation and delivery of projects centered on balance sheet management, regulatory compliance, and liquidity & interest rate risk reporting. Wilson's journey in the financial sector also includes a significant stint at Fiserv. As the Managing Consultant for Asia Pacific Operations, he was instrumental in building the advisory services division. He initially joined IPS-Sendero, a subsidiary of Fiserv, as a Product Consultant in 2002. His rapid progression to Senior Product Consultant by 2004 is a testament to his proficiency and leadership qualities. In this role, he was responsible for delivering training, technical support, and implementation services for IPS-Sendero’s financial products across Asia. His work included leading major projects in areas such as Funds Transfer Pricing, Asset & Liability Management, Credit Risk, Basel II & III, and profitability measurement for several major banks in the Asia Pacific. Academically, Wilson has a strong foundation with a Bachelor of Arts (Merit) in Economics & Statistics from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Applied Finance degree from the University of Adelaide. He also earned the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation in 2004. These qualifications underpin his technical expertise and comprehensive understanding of the financial sector. Wilson's multilingual proficiency in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese has been an asset in his roles, allowing him to navigate effectively in a multilingual and multicultural business environment. This skill has been particularly valuable in managing teams and projects across the diverse Asia Pacific region. In recognition of his leadership and professional excellence, Wilson was awarded the Kamakura Corporation’s Leadership Excellence Award in 2016. This accolade underscores his exceptional leadership skills, strategic acumen, and ability to drive organizational success.
